The Terminology Tales

Privacy

Almost nothing, and here is the almost.

What the site does not do

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no third-party scripts, and loads no fonts, images or media from anyone else’s servers. Every page is a static file written here and served from here. There is nothing to consent to because there is nothing collecting.

Server logs

The site is hosted on a shared plan at Hostinger. Like any web server, it records standard access logs — the address a request came from, the page requested, the time, and the browser’s self-description. These are used for nothing beyond keeping the site running and are retained on the host’s standard schedule.

The letter

If you subscribe, we store your email address, which page you subscribed from, the address the request came from, the dates you subscribed, confirmed and (if you do) unsubscribed, and — for each letter — whether it was sent to you and when, so that a letter is never sent to you twice. The request address is kept only so that a flood of fake signups can be told from real ones. Nothing else is stored, and the list is never joined to anything else.

Subscription is double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the link in the confirmation email. Every letter carries an unsubscribe link that works on the first click, and you can ask for your address to be deleted at any time by writing to hello@theterminologytales.com. The list is operated by Tell a Tonic Productions, LLC, is not shared, sold or lent to anyone, and carries no tracking pixel — we cannot tell whether you opened a letter, and we prefer it that way.

This show's list and The Treatment Tapes' list are kept separate and are never crossed: subscribing here does not put you on that one, and subscribing there does not put you on this one.

Email

If you write to the address above, the message is kept for as long as it takes to answer it and deal with what it raises. A correction you send may be acknowledged on The Register; your name will not be, unless you ask.

Podcast platforms

When the show is listened to through Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or another directory, that platform’s own privacy terms apply. This site has no access to their listener data.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the change is made because the site’s behaviour changed — not the other way round.
